On Friday, September 11, at 6:30 PM, Villa Carlotta pays homage to Italy through 19th-century chamber music, from Boccherini's Quintet for Piano and Strings to Hummel's virtuosic Variations on Monferrina, including rare instrumental works by great opera composers such as Donizetti and celebrated transcriptions of Italian melodies by French composers.
The program offers a refined journey from duo to quintet, encompassing great melodies, virtuosity, and chamber music dialogue, featuring strings and a precious Broadwood square piano from the early 19th century.
The gardens of Villa Carlotta will be open from 5:30 PM, with an aperitif included at the Villa's bistro before the concert.
Entrance is free. All proceeds will be donated to the Azalea Cooperative's charitable projects supporting minors and children in need.
